November 5, International Day of Poetry and Consciousness Raising

Make note of this upcoming date, and read Sam Hamil's editorial in the current issue of the Poets against War newsletter. As Sam points out, Bush's immorality and corruption reach far beyond the shores of America and Iraq.

Sam deals with poets and more broadly with writers. As we know, artists of all kinds need to answer the call to envision and help realize a peaceful, human-friendly, environmentally sound future. Does anybody know of organizations similar to PAW for other disciplines, or other cross-discipline organizations? We should, even now in our infancy as a group, consider how we can network and cooperate with others. The first step in that direction is to know what others are out there. PAW is what *I* know about. what do *you* know about?

Hi Catreona,

Thanks for the invite to come by. I am not sure what "being a member" would mean...ditto on the pretty layout!

Hello to kimmy and listner up top! :)

Hi everybody!

Hope you're staying warm, listener.

Kimmy, great to see you here!

Thanks for stopping by, Lenny. Being a member of the blog confers admin priviliges, so you can post main blog entries, etc. You also get your name on the Contributors list at the top of the blog. We haven't yet worked out exactly what being a member of the group in general means. I think we need a few more members before beginning to sort that out.

As to the pretty layout: I like it too. I chose the template and have been playing with colors. The waterlilly is listener's work.

Hi lenny and all!

I took the water lily photo on my birthday when my family took me to the Montreal Botanical Gardens.

It was one of those photos you take and know as the shutter clicks that this is going to be an amazing photo, because it felt just right.

Catreona...
Staying warm is no problem for us, as we heat with propane and a Jotul stove...not dependent on electricity.
The hardship was that my hubby's work is a home software business.
We're doing much better than many other Vermonters...not to mention Floridians!

Kimmy, if you're still around, and anyone else who might be interested, please come read and comment on my SF story in progress, "Io Station." I'm stuck and need fresh eyes and thoughts.
