Country unites behind Harris as MAGA panics

  1. Things certainly are moving at light speed. Since I set this post at quarter past eleven last night, Rolling Stone, among others, reports that Elon Musk Says He Never Pledged to Donate $45 Million Per Month to Trump [click].

Meanwhile, CNN reports [click] that V.P. Harris has already reached the delegate count needed to secure her party's nomination.

The groundswell of support for V.P. Harris is due entirely to Pres. Biden's magnanimity and honor. He could have refused calls to withdraw from the race. He could have withdrawn ungraciously, refusing to endorse any replacement and saying, in essence, "You want me out? I'm out. Go find a candidate." Instead, he endorsed Harris and released his campaign war chest, his campaign organization and his convention delegates so she wouldn't have to start from scratch; so the baton passing would be as smooth as possible. It is not only Donald Trump who never would have done such a thing. A lot of people - a lot of good people - couldn't have brought themselves to give up the power.

There's a good deal of talk about a new energy, a new resolve. For me, though, there's also a large element of "We've got to do this for Joe!"

    1. Agreed. Joe Biden is a wonderful President, a true statesman and patriot. One of the greats.

  2. On another topic:

"The war in Gaza could end tomorrow if Hamas surrenders, disarms, and returns all the hostages," added the prime minister, who for years facilitated massive financial support for the militant resistance group — whose political arm rules Gaza — in order to weaken the Palestinian National Authority.

    ...

The prime minister claimed that Israel "has implemented more precautions to prevent civilian harm than any military in history, and beyond what international law requires."

And, who does that little claim remind you of?
